Elegant Aqua Green Pure Silk Paithani Saree with Zari Pallu
Material & Craft
Best quality pure silk Paithani saree.
The Paithani saree, originating from Paithan, Maharashtra, is a handloom masterpiece woven in pure silk and zari made of gold and silver. Its roots trace back to the Yadavas, with records from the 2nd century BCE mentioning its silks and cottons being traded for Roman goods. Known for its intricate kath (border) and padar (pallu), the silk saree now dyed using both natural and mordant dyes, features motifs of peacocks, parrots, flowers, leaves, coconut and fan motifs woven in 24-36 inches of elaborate zari work pallu. Designs are guided by either paper patterns or the weaver’s memory. Crafted using plain tapestry techniques, the sarees incorporate Split Tapestry Weave, Interlocking Method or Dove-Tailing Method. The complex and masterful process of weaving a Paithani saree begins with weaving the plain skirt portion, followed by intricate borders and the pallu using small spools of coloured silk threads. Wear with pride these sarees symbolize a unique blend of tradition, artistry, and weaving.
