Srikalahasti Kalamkari, originating from Srikalahasti in Andhra Pradesh's Tirupati district, is a traditional art of hand-painted fabric using natural dyes. The name derives from the Persian word Kalam, meaning pen, as the artwork employs two types of pens: one made of bamboo for intricate drawings and another for colouring. This elaborate process, which includes 17 meticulous steps such as block making, fabric treatment, printing, and washing, relies exclusively on dyes derived from flowers and vegetables.
