"Rooted in the ancient tradition of Tholu Bommalata — a vibrant form of shadow puppetry from Andhra Pradesh and Telangana — these lamps are crafted from treated Parchment Leather, staying true to the original materials used by master artisans for centuries. Historically, Tholu Bommalata brought to life episodes from the Ramayana and Mahabharata, with puppeteers weaving together songs, dialogue, and narratives drawn from many versions of these great Indian epics. Practiced primarily by the Aare Kapu community, this intricate art form continues to flourish in regions like Anantapur, Guntur, and Nellore. What makes Tholu Bommalata unique are its life-sized, beautifully coloured leather puppets — every joint articulated for storytelling in dance-like movements. The craft has been traditionally handed down through generations within families, a living legacy passed from father to son. Today, these lamps carry forward the same storytelling spirit — each one a glowing tribute to the artistry, mythology, and craftsmanship that have stood the test of time."

For Made To Order products, please allow 2-3 weeks for crafting and dispatch. These items are not eligible for return.
